Some may find The Outpost to be an atrocious film. I feel it was a hit because of its cold and sinister mood. The storyline, though brief, is rather suspenseful with many twists and turns.
However, the film is not a horror movie. The Outpost was a spy film. In other words, it was a movie to showcase the prowess of CIA agents. It also gives us a glimpse into what the whole CIA business actually consists of.
For those of you who are not familiar with the CIA, it's a low budget movie that gives us a sneak peek into what spies really do. They're sneaky people and their moves are creative. We all know that George Clooney is a genius at using his body, but what is he hiding?
The Serie is a sci-fi movie. It is set in the future and also depicts the old espionage game. A film that resemble Blade Runner, but it does not feature Harrison Ford, does not sound like a good flick.
The Outpost was directed by Renny Harlin and starred in no less than Edward Herrmann, Eva Marie Saint, Milton Berle, Edward James Olmos, and Deborah Van Valkenburgh. Though the film's plot is minimal, but its eerie atmosphere and some cold, calculated action made it a hit. The series was produced by Michael Gough and by the way Gough knew how to turn out interesting projects.
Horror fans will surely enjoy this film. Though, there were several scenes that frightened me. I did not see this one coming.
However, there are more movies to watch. There are a lot of intriguing titles like the Abominable Bride and The Woman In Black. Check them out and grab a bargain in the theatre.
The Outpost got good reviews, but let's not forget that there are many other documentaries to check out besides The Serie. There are a lot of best of series available that include The Constant Gardener, The Castle, The Thin Red Line, The Lives of Others, and The Hunt. You can also check out the cult classics The Shining, A History of Violence, The Others, and Excalibur.
